Future Technology Trends - Cognitive Networks
Ericsson imagines the networks of tomorrow
Tomorrow’s cognitive networks will be able to perform reasoning and resolve complex challenges autonomously. See how AI-enabled and self-optimizing connectivity is being harnessed in exciting new ways in this short video from Ericsson.

0:04 when something is cognitive it means
0:06 that it can acquire knowledge and of
0:08 course also use that knowledge we humans
0:11 are cognitive we see the environment
0:14 around us we hear we sense we observe
0:17 the environment
0:18 and
0:19 we make that into knowledge eventually
0:21 these new insights may lead to some
0:23 action
0:24 nowadays we give the system the solution
0:27 what we would like to achieve
0:29 is to get a higher level of automation
0:32 if we give the system
0:34 expectations instead of solutions then
0:37 that raises the level of autonomy that
0:39 the system has let's say i want the
0:42 quality of experience of these users to
0:44 be at least this level the system
0:46 receives that intent it will start to
0:49 observe those users extract data about
0:52 their quality of experience and maybe
0:54 come to the conclusion that
0:57 this current quality of experience is
0:59 not good enough it would come up with an
1:01 action
1:02 maybe change the priority of the traffic
1:05 of those users and with that we will see
1:07 that the quality of experience will get
1:09 better so why do we need cognitive
1:11 networks the more diverse devices you
1:14 connect to the network the more work is
1:16 needed to do that management we will see
1:19 more and more use cases more and more
1:21 services or more diverse services with
1:23 extreme requirements and all of this
1:25 needs to be dealt with in the network
1:29 i believe that if we don't have this
1:31 automation journey it will become
1:33 unmanageable for humans
1:35 so imagine the networks of tomorrow
1:37 performing far more complex functions
1:40 than today
1:41 i believe we can make the networks more
1:44 autonomous with cognitive networks it's
1:46 possible
